This web site is dedicated to those in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the surrounding area, that served their country during the Vietnam era. Most of the members in this chapter were either 'on the ground' in Vietnam or offshore on ships, submarines, and aircraft carriers providing cover and support for the ground troops 'in country', directly in harm's way.
This group exists to serve the community, to keep the community aware of the service that these men provided their country, and particularly to aid and support each other as we continue to live out the Vietnam experience.
Vietnam Veterans Officially Welcomed Home March 29th!
The city of Grand Prairie honored Vietnam Veterans on the newly inaugurated Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29. All veterans were invited to attend the first ever event at the Veteran's Memorial Event Center. A presentation was made of a signed copy of "Veteran Memorials Across America" by VVA Chapter 1013 President Ray Bush to Ruthie Jackson, Grand Prairie Mayor Pro Tem. The book tells the stories of 100 memorials dedicated to those who served in Vietnam. This was placed in the Grand Prairie Library to make it available for all those who have an interest in the subject.
